Berkeley House Access Statement

Introduction

Berkeley House provides self catering accommodation, sleeping up to 12 people in five bedrooms: one on the first floor, two on the second floor, one on the third floor/ attic conversion and a final ground floor room at the rear of the property.

Pre-Arrival

• You can contact us using the following methods: Letter, email, telephone and via our website. If you require any alternative accessibility (eg large font letters) please get in touch and we will do our best to help you.
• Berkeley House is located approximately 5 minutes walking distance from Keswick town square and roughly 10 minutes from the lake. The nearest bus station is about a 5 minutes walk away and there are bus services to most local towns and villages. Including Penrith where the nearest train station is located, roughly 19miles away. Taxi numbers are available on request and we can book a taxi for you if required.
• Guests with mobility/visual/hearing impairments should contact us before arriving and arrangements can be made to help aid and ensure the safety of arriving guests.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• There are two car parking spaces at the rear of Berkeley House and there are also parking spaces on the road at the front of Berkeley House.
• Keys will normally be sent out to you by post prior to your arrival.

Main Entrance & Reception

• Berkeley House's front entrance is located approximately twenty paces from the roadside. There are nine steps along the path to the front door and then another six smaller steps up to the front door itself.
• Although we do not have a dedicated reception area we do provide a telephone with an emergency contact number in case of any queries or problems where help is required.

Public Areas - General (Internal)

• The dining room and lounge are located on the ground floor. Both areas are well lit during the day time and at night there is always adequate lighting to guide guests up the staircase to the bedrooms.

Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe

• The dining room and lounge are located on the ground floor, both are adequately lit by both natural and artificial lighting.
• Next door to the lounge/dining area there is a fully equipped kitchen.

Bedrooms

First floor
• Room 1 - Family room with four poster, with view over park and lake (uses shared bathroom on same floor).

Second Floor
• Room 2 - Twin room en-suite, with view over SKiddaw and town centre.
• Room 3 - Double/twin/family room en-suite, with view over park and lake.

Thrird Floor
• Room 4 (attic room) - Double Room with shared facilities (located on the first floor) views over park, lake, Skiddaw and town centre.

Ground Floor
• Room 5 – Double en-suite, view of Skiddaw, plus small lounge area.
